  • Bibliometric analysis of Chinese ophthalmological papers indexed in SCI database from 2007 to 2011

    Objective To learn the bibliometric characteristics of Chinese ophthalmological papers indexed in SCI database from 2007 to 2011.Methods All the ophthalmological papers published in the source journals indexed in the SCI database from 2007 to 2011 were retrieved. The papers of first authors were manually selected for bibliometric analysis.Results The ophthalmological papers published by Chinese scholars as the first author were 478, 482, 698, 791, and 1049 from 2007 to 2011 (total 3498). The five institutions that published papers in the most were Sun Yat-sen University, Capital University of Medical Sciences, Fudan University, Hong Kong Chinese University and Shanghai Jiaotong University. The papers were distributed in 625 journals. The top five journals the papers were published in were Molecular Vision (332), International Journal of Ophthalmology (268), Investigative Ophthalmology amp; Visual Science (206), Chinese Medical Journal (109), and Graefeprime;s Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology (104). The 3498 papers were cited 12 030 times, 3.44 times per paper. The rate of non-cited articles for 5 year,3 year and 2 year periods were 12.55%, 24.21% and 38.43% respectively. Conclusions Chinese ophthalmological papers indexed in SCI database have gradually increased. Chinese ophthalmological papers mainly originate in the affiliated hospital of universities and colleges. There are four ophthalmologic professional periodicals included in the top five in the quantity of articles.

  • Bibliometric Analysis of Literatures on Evidence-Based Medicine in 2002

    Objective To investigate the hot topics of research on evidence-based medicine in 2002. Method To search MEDLINE for papers on evidence-based medicine published in 2002, identify high-frequency subject headings related to research on evidence-based medicine, and cluster the high-frequency subject headings according to rates they appeared in common papers. Results 545 papers, 1 554 subject headings, 30 high-frequency subject headings on evidence-based medicine, and nine clustering categories of high-frequency subject headings were identified through search. Conclusions Both high-frequency subject headings and their clustering categories suggested that “evidence-based practice guidelines and their innovation”, “evidence-based health research and health policy”, “methodology on systematic reviews and randomized clinical trials”, “method of evidence-based decision making and its application in various subjects”, were the hot topics of evidence-based medicine. They provided useful references for Chinese medical professionals to practice evidence-based medicine.

  • Literature analysis of application of Kanban management in medical services

    ObjectiveTo analyze the application status of Kanban management in medical service management at home and abroad and to provide a reference for lean medical management practice in China.MethodsUsing the bibliometric method, in China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, CQVIP Journal Database, Springer Link, Embase and PubMed, we used “Kanban” and “Kanban management” as Chinese search terms, “Kanban system” and “two-bin system” as English search terms to search for literature published from 2009 to 2019. The number of articles published, institutions, authors, citation frequencies, key words, Kanban usage, and improved areas where Kanban was applied in were statistically described and analyzed.ResultsA total of 219 articles were retrieved. Of the 14 articles included in the study, 12 articles were published from 2015 to 2019, 8 articles were published by hospitals, and 9 articles were cited more than or equal to 3 times. The key words were basically the combinations of Kanban and related topics in the field of medical service management, such as quality control and improvement, ward service, high-quality care and process evaluation; 11 articles used Kanban alone. Kanban was used in medicine supply chain management, ward bed management, and material inventory management abroad; and was used in medicine management, emergency room patient management, medical staff performance management, operating room equipment management, and high-quality medical service management in China.ConclusionsKanban as a lean management method was introduced into the domestic medical field late, and the current research development is not balanced. Asa visual management tool, Kanban needs to be extended in the medical field. As a lean improvement tool, Kanban has positive significance in improving medical quality and patient satisfaction. It is suggested that researchers should not be limited to the existing applied research, and can study the application of Kanban in different medical service fields in combination with different lean management tools according to the actual situation of the hospital.

  • Status Survey on Systematic Review/Meta-analysis Related to Interventions Published in the Chinese Journals Entitled with Evidence-Based

    Objective To survey the current situation of the systematic review (SR)/ meta-analysis (MA) related to interventions published in the Chinese medical journals entitled with evidence-based. Methods According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine (2001.1 to 2011.12), the Chinese Journal of Evidence-based Medicine (2001.1 to 2011.12), the Chinese Journal of Evidence Based Pediatrics (2006.1 to 2011.12) and the Chinese Journal of Evidence-Based Cardiovascular Medicine (2008.1 to 2011.12) were searched for SRs/MAs related to interventions. Two reviewers extracted data independently using predesigned a data extraction form, crosschecked data, and discussed to solve discrepancy. Excel software was used to for statistical analysis. Results A total of 487 SRs/MAs were included. 379 (77.82%) SRs/MAs were published in the Chinese Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine, 70 (14.38%) in the Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine, 30 (6.17%) in Chinese Journal of Evidence-Based Pediatrics, and 8 (1.63%) in the Chinese Journal of Evidence-Based Cardiovascular Medicine. The number of SRs/MAs published generally increased during 2001 to 2011. The number of author of SRs/MAs was 5±2, the number of studies that included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of SRs/MAs varied from 1 to 129 (median: 8), involving 20 diseases. 83 (17.04%) SRs/MAs focused on neoplasms, 64 (17.04%) on diseases of the circulatory system, and 54 (11.09%) on diseases of the genitourinary system. 82.75% of the included 487 SRs/MAs assessed the methodological quality of included RCTs. 44 (9.03%) SRs/MAs mentioned the methods of quality assessment, without reporting the results. The Cochrane Collaboration’s tool for assessing risk of bias was the most frequently used for evaluation (314 SRs/MAs, 64.48%). Conclusion The number of SRs/MAs related to interventions published in the journals entitled with evidence-based is increasing generally and their topics are extensive. However, further studies should be improved in the aspects of selecting and applying the quality assessment criteria of randomized controlled trials.

  • Bibliometric analysis of research hotspots and trends in familial exudative vitreoretinopathy from 2014 to 2023

    ObjectiveTo understand research hotspots and future development trends in the field of familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR) from 2014 to 2023. MethodsRelevant literature on FEVR was retrieved using the Web of Science Core Collection (SSCI and SCI-Expanded) from the Institute for Scientific Information. The bibliometric analysis software CiteSpace 6.2.R3 was used to analyze countries or regions, institutions, authors, co-cited references, and keywords. ResultsA total of 316 FEVR-related articles were included. The annual number of publications in this field showed a fluctuating upward trend from 2014 to 2023, with the highest number of publications in 2022, 51 papers (16.14%, 51/316); and the lowest in 2015, 15 papers (4.75%, 15/316). China had the highest number of publications, with 137 papers (43.35%, 137/316). Among institutions, Shanghai Jiao Tong University ranked first with 43 papers, while Professor Zhao Peiquan from Xinhua Hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, had the highest number of publications among authors, with 34 papers. The country with the highest betweenness centrality was the United States, 0.91; the institution was the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, 0.16; and the author was Ding Xiaoyan, 0.12. The 316 papers were clustered into four research areas: #0 clinical characteristics, #1 ndp, #2 norrie disease, and #3 retinopathy of prematurity. Keywords such as "Chinese patients," "TSPAN12," "variants," and "spectrum" remained highly frequent up to 2023. ConclusionsThe number of publications on FEVR research from 2014 to 2023 show a growth trend, with Chinese research institutions and scholars contributing the most. Research on pathogenic genotypes and clinical phenotypes remains a crucial direction for future development.

  • Global hotspots and trends in atrial fibrillation anticoagulation research

    ObjectiveTo analyze the global status, hotspots, and trends in atrial fibrillation anticoagulation research.MethodsWe searched Web of Science Core Collection to collect relevant literature on atrial fibrillation anticoagulation from 2006 to 2020. The visualization software CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to analyze co-citation, co-occurrence, and emergence analysis on publishing organizations, journals, and keywords and to explore the research hotspots and frontiers.ResultsA total of 11764 related studies were retrieved. In recent years, research on anticoagulation of atrial fibrillation has become increasingly popular. Most of the published researches were from North America, and the primary institution was the University of Birmingham. Research hotspots mainly focused on warfarin, stroke prevention, new oral anticoagulants, antithrombotic and anticoagulants, and complicating diseases. The research frontiers were the new oral anticoagulants, and the antithrombotic management of atrial fibrillation with coronary heart disease.ConclusionsThe global hotspot in atrial fibrillation anticoagulant research is warfarin, stroke prevention, new oral anticoagulants, antithrombotic and antiplatelet therapy, and complicated diseases. The research focuses on the study of novel oral anticoagulants and the antithrombotic management of atrial fibrillation complicated with coronary heart disease.

  • Bibliometric analysis of gene therapy for retinitis pigmentosa in recent 20 years

    ObjectiveTo investigate the current status of research in gene therapy for retinitis pigmentosa (RP) from 2005 to 2024. MethodsThe literature related to gene therapy for RP included in the Web of Science Core Collection dataset from January 1, 2005 to September 15, 2024 was retrieved and screened. The bibliometrix package of R software was used to analyze the annual trend of the number of publications, citation frequency, distribution of countries/regions of the literature, and distribution of journals containing the articles. CiteSpace software was used to perform keyword clustering analysis and the keywords bursts analysis. ResultsA total of 209 articles were included. There was an overall fluctuating upward trend of annual publications from 2005 to 2024, with the highest number of publications in 2023 at 26 (12.4%, 26/209), and the lowest number of publications in 2006 at 2 (0.9%, 2/209). There was an overall increasing trend in the frequency of citations to relevant literature. Corresponding authors from the United States had the highest total number of publications with 98 (46.9%, 98/209). Among authors, Hauswirth from the University of Florida, USA, had the most with 25 (12.0%, 25/209). Among institutions, Columbia University, USA, had the most with 55 (26.3%, 55/209). Among journals, Mol Ther had the most with 25 (12.0%, 25/209), and it had the highest 2023 impact factor of 12.1. Keyword clustering analysis yielded eight valid clusters, namely #0 P23H, #1 AAV, #2 PDE6B, #3 CRB1, #4 RPGR, #5 antisense oligonucleotide, #6 NR2E3, and #7 NRL, which intersected with each other with good continuity. The keywords bursts analysis showed that the keyword with the longest emergence time was RNAi, followed by PDE and PDE6. USH2A, CRB1, CRISPR Cas9, base editing, and ORF15 were keywords that emerged in recent years and were continuously studied. ConclusionsRP gene therapy research literature has shown an increasing trend from 2005 to 2024, with the highest number of publications from research organizations and scholars in the United States. Currently, studies focus on RHO, PDE6B, CRB1, RPGR, NR2E3, and NRL gene. In recent years, there has been a gradual increase in studies on USH2A, CRB1 genes, and the RPGR ORF15 region. CRISPR Cas9 and base editing gene therapy strategies are being developed.

  • Bibliometric analysis of studies on medical research integrity in China

    Objective To analyze the hot topics and trends of medical research integrity in China and to provide references for future studies. Methods The CNKI, WanFang Data and VIP databases were searched from inception to December 2021. Data on the number of publications, journals, institutions, authors, keywords, and emergent themes were analyzed using bibliometric methods and CiteSpace software. Results A total of 324 studies were included. The results showed that the number of publications increased annually, and "Chinese Journal of Medical Science Research Management" and Peking University were the journal and institution with the most publications, respectively. The three most prolific authors published five studies each, and the publications were mainly concerned with identifying and preventing issues, in addition to education regarding medical research integrity. Conclusion Medical research integrity in China has attracted significant attention. Several leading journals in this research field have emerged; however, there is no clearly dominant research team. The depth and breadth of the research remain to be improved. It is suggested that researchers focus on the effectiveness of strategies for preventing issues, promoting the establishment of the lifelong education system and improving related rules and regulations to advance the development of medical research integrity in China.

  • Current status and trends in research on chemotherapy-induced premature ovarian failure from a bibliometric perspective

    Objective To analyze the research progress and current situation in the field of chemotherapy-induced premature ovarian failure by bibliometrics, so as to provide scientific and efficient research path for researchers. Methods All the literature on chemotherapy-induced premature ovarian failure from 2015 to 2024 was retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. CiteSpace and VOSviewer software were used to conduct bibliometric analyses of authors, institutions, keywords, co-cited documents, etc., and to draw the relational graphs. Results A total of 567 papers were included. The annual research output increased slightly, and the number of papers published by Chinese researchers ranked first. The 49 selected keywords were divided into 11 clusters, and the emerging keywords showed that the research hotspots in recent years focused on more in-depth mechanism studies, such as primary ovarian insufficiency and fertility preservation in premenopausal patients, which might continue to be research hotspots. Conclusions In recent years, the research heat of chemotherapy-induced premature ovarian failure has been increasing, and Chinese scholars have made outstanding contributions, however, it is necessary to further strengthen the scientific research cooperation among researchers. Fertility preservation, hormone replacement therapy, in vitro transplantation may become the hotspots of future research, and the depth and refinement of research should be further promoted on the basis of multi-center and multi-disciplinary cross.
