Objective To investigate auto-cortex of crystalline lens-induced neovascular epiretinal membrane(NVERM)by micro-injuring posterior c apsule of crystalline lens. Methods twenty four C57BL/6 mouse between 4-6 weeks were selected, and divided into two groups randomly: auto-cortex of crystalline group and the control group. The auto-cortex of crystalline group was treated by penetrating the posterior capsule of lens and washing out the lens cortex into the mouse vitreous using PBS (phosphate buffered solution), while the control group were injected PBS into vitreous merely. Clinical change s were followed by slit-lamp examination and photograph. The eye balls were enu cleated at the day of 3, 7, 14 and 28 after operation. Both HE and immunohistoch emistry were used to detect the pathological changes. Results postoperative one to three days, 11 of 12 mouse in autocortex of crystalline g roup, lens appear to alba turbid at different levels one after another, and then develop into highdensity chinaware white. Postoperative (po) three days, HE s taining shows cortex of lens debris transmigrated in vitreous cavity, and some o f which approached to internal limiting membrane and lead it to rough and discon tinue; Po7-14 days, the capillary in retina expanded, migrated and broke though t internal limiting membrane which got to the pro retina and became the new ves sels. And typical NVERM were observed. Po28 days, some vascularslike structure formed in vitreous cavity. None of mouse in control group developed NVERM. Conclusion Auto-cortex of crystalline lens can induced neovascular epiretinal membrane in C57BL/6 mouse. (Chin J Ocul Fundus Dis,2008,24:118-121)
ObjectiveTo explore the expression of alpha B-crystallin (CRYAB) in human gastric cancer tissue and the influence of chemotherapeutics on expression of CRYAB mRNA.Methods① The gastric cancer tissues and corresponding adjacent tissues of 76 patients underwent radical resection from April 2018 to March 2020 in The First Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University and the Sichuan Mianyang 404 Hospital were collected, the expression of CRYAB protein in the gastric cancer tissues and corresponding adjacent tissues of 76 patients with gastric cancer were detected by immunohistochemistry SP technique. The relation between the expression of CRYAB protein and clinicopathologic features was analyzed. ② Twenty-one gastric tissues of patients accepted neoadjuvant chemotherapy and 26 gastric tissues of patients with no neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the The First Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University were collected from November 2018 to March 2020, the expression of CRYAB mRNA was detected by real time-PCR.ResultsThe expression of CRYAB protein in gastric cancer tissues was positive in 51 cases (67.1%) and in the corresponding adjacent tissues was positive in 32 cases (42.1%), the positive rate was higher in gastric cancer tissues (χ2=9.581, P=0.002). The over-expression of CRYAB protein in the gastric cancer tissues was correlated with the TNM stage, Borrmann typing, degree of differentiation, lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion of the patients, and Lauren classification (P<0.05), but not correlated with the age, gender, tumor sitation, and diameter (P>0.05). The expression of CRYAB mRNA in the gastric cancer tissues with neoadjuvant chemotherapy was significantly higher than that in the gastric cancer tissues without neoadjuvant chemotherapy (t=8.37, P<0.001).ConclusionsThe over-expression of CRYAB protein is closely related to the invasion and progression of gastric cancer, they may be involved in the progression of gastric cancer and play a crucial role. Moreover, the expression of CRYAB mRNA increases after chemotherapy, it suggests that chemotherapy drugs can activate the self-protection mechanism of tumor cells to some extent, and influence the effect of chemotherapy by increasing expression of CRYAB protein.
Objective To approach the clinical characters and therapeutic methods of retinal detachment(RD) after extracapsular catarat extraction(ECCE)with posterior chamber intraocular lens(PCIOL). Methods Sixty eight cases(68 eyes) of RD after ECCE with PCIOL were treated with sclerel buckling,microvitreo retinal surgery and intraocular gas,silicone oil injection and were reviewed. Results The retinas were totally reattached in 65 eyes(95.59%) which dropped to 94.12% in 6-60 months postoperatively.The resultant rate of visual acuity of the eyes with 0.1 or better was 79.41%,with 0.3 or better was 26.47%. Conclusion The main causes of RD after ECCE with PCIOL are similar to those of general RD,and most cases of RD after ECCE with PCIOL can be cured by surgical treatment. Objective To discuss the treatment of retinal detachment(RD) after posterior chamber intraocular lents(PCIOL) implantation. Methods Twenty eyes with RD after PCIOL inplantation which were treated with vitrectomy combined with scleral buckling and intraocular tamponade from March 1993 to June 1997 in this institute were analysed retrospctively. Results The retinas reattached completely in 16 eyes and partly in 2 eyes after RD operation.The postoperative visual acuity improved in 17 eyes,not improved in 2 eyes,and decreasde in 1 eyes.The PCIOL was taken off during RD operative in 6 eyes.Postoperative complications including displacement of the PCIOL in 2 eyes,hyphema and vitreous hemorrhage were found in this series of RD operation in 1 eyes. Conclusion Vitrectomy combined with scleral buckling and intraocular tamponade is one of the effective methods to treat the eyes with RD with PCIOL. (Chin J Ocul Fundus Dis,1998,14:165-166)
We reviewed 44 eyes of pseudophakic(PC-IOL)retinal detackment in which 12 eyes had their posterior lenticular capsules broken,7 of them during the operation and 5 after postoperative YAG laser eapsulotomy.Eleven of the 12 eyes (91.7%) had their retinal detached within 1 year after cataract extraction associated with Intraocular lens implantation,and 18 eyes in 32 eyes(56.3%) with intact po6terior lenticular capsules had their retinae detached within 1 year.The difference between the above conditions was statistically significant (Plt;0.05), Thirty-six of 44 eyes(81.8%) had their detached retinae reattaehed after surgical treatmint. And we found that advanced proliferative vitroretinopethy and failure of detection of retinal breaks played important role for failure of surgical treatment in this series. To simplify the production process of intraocular lens (IOL) and to solve the problem of lacking adjustable ability, we proposed a novel soft IOL with large-scale adjustable ability and rigid haptics based on heat-assisted method, and gravity-assisted method. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and rigid material——polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) were used as the materials for fabricating optical lens (PDMS) and haptics (PDMS and PMMA) through changing the weight ratio of the solution. A lens-smartphone microscopy system was established to replace the traditional digital microscopy to measure the tiny displacements and shape changes. The PDMS lens has excellent optical property through an experiment in which the maximum optical power was around 273.2 D. Experimental results indicated that the maximum optical power of PMMA IOL was 129.3 D, and that in PDMS IOL, however, was only 56.0 D. Thus, the rigid PMMA-IOL has a larger adjustable range. The production process of PDMS was mold-free, rapid, real-time, and highly repeatable and there was no need for a rigorous experimental environment either. This creative processing technology reduced the manufacturing steps from which an optical lens with high transmittance and high resolution, as well as hatics with accurate dimensions, were obtained. The rigidity of haptics affected more intensely than other factors did for improving the pre-displacement and changing the appearance of PDMS lens. Even though the rigidity of PMMA haptics is large enough for accommodating, there are many drawbacks during manufacturing. It is unavailable to rapid fabricate IOL using PMMA. Thus, further work will be required to alter the weight ratio of PDMS material, increase the rigidity, and enhance the adjustable ability of PDMS IOL.
Objective To observe the effect of preservation of an terior lens capsule on the incidence of complications associated with silicone oil. Methods Eighty-two patients(82 eyes)accepted trans pars plana vitrectomy combined with lensectomy,30 eyes with preservation of an terior lens capsule (PAC) and 52 eyes with no preservation of anterior capsule(N PAC)were observed.The incidence of complications was analysed to investigate whe ther PAC could reduce the complications associated with the usage of tamponade of silicone oil. Results The incidence was 50.0% in NP AC group,and 23.3% in PAC group(0.010lt; Plt; 0.025).There were secondary glaucoma(21.1%),band keratopathy(13.5%)and corneal decompensation(9.6%)in NPAC group,while there was none of them in PAC group. Conclusion Preservation of anterior lens capsule is an effective measure to reduce the complicaltons associated with the tamponade of silicone oil. (Chin J Ocul Fundus Dis, 2001,17:41-43)
