Objective To review the current concepts of gene therapy approachesmediated by adenovirus vectors for bone trauma and bone disease. Methods The recent literature concerned gene therapy mediated by adenovirus vectors was reviewed, which provides new insights into the treatments of bone trauma and bone disease. Results Adenovirus vectors was efficient, achieved high expression after transduction, and could transfer genes to both replicating and nonreplicating cells, such as osteoblasts, osteoclasts, fibroblasts, chondrocytes, bone marrow stromal cells, etc. Gene therapy mediated by adenovirus vectors achieved affirmative results in enhancing bone union and in curing bone diseases, such as osteoporosis and rheumatoid arthritis. Conclusion Gene therapy mediatedby adenovirus offers an exciting avenue for treatment of bone trauma and bone diseases.
Severe heart and great vessel injuries were a fatal traumatic entity. How to improve the survival rate of these victims still was a challenge to date. This paper included: the pathogenesis and resuscitation of commotio eordis ; traumatic pericardial rupture associated with heart luxation and/or diaphragmatocele in pericardial cavity; indication selection of emergency room thoracotomy for severe heart injury and traumatic aortic disruption treated with endovascular stent graft. For the purpose of increasing our recognition of the severe trauma and making the early diagnosis and management as early as possible. The main relative references published in recently 5 years were reviewed.
OBJECTIVE: To describe the concept of "un-controlled wound repair" and review its current progress in basic research and clinical treatment. METHODS: The literature review and comprehensive analysis methods were used in this study. RESULTS: The results showed that the normal wound repair and "un-controlled" wound repair had made big progress in cellular, molecular and genetic levels in recent years and these progresses had enhanced the treatment progress in clinic. CONCLUSION: All data indicate that the wound repair is made a big progress both in basic and clinic fields. New high techniques, such as clone, biochip and stem cell and their use will promote the deep study of "un-controlled" wound repair.
